Scrapbooking Tips to Save Money

Tip 1

Scrapbooking is constantly growing and can get expensive. There are so many supplies and items to choose from that you can quickly spin out of control

Here are a few tips to keep you on track and save yourself some money.

1. You don't need every new tool. Sit down and come up with a list of items you must have( paper, adhesive, scissors, etc). and a list of items you want. Buy your desired items as your budget permits.

2. Share supplies with a friend who scraps. For example, if you and your friend go shopping, she can buy one punch and you can buy a different one.

3. Wait for special coupons. Craft stores occasionally put out 40 and 50% off coupons. Wait for these coupons and then go and buy something on your wish list.

4. Swap your extras. If you have extra paper or a large selection of die cuts, consider swapping them with someone who might have something you could use.

5. If you have internet access, you have a wealth of information available to you for free. There are a lot of sites that have ideas for titles, layouts, poems and fonts. There is no need to purchase idea books.

By using these money saving suggestions you can cut down on your expenses but, still enjoy your scrapbooking hobby.

TIP 2

Using leftover scraps after completing a layout

When you are creating your scrapbook layouts you are sure to have leftover paper. The leftovers will be in various sizes and shapes. Don't waste money by throwing those those pieces away. You can use them for future layouts.

1. Make rare boarders and backgrounds with those scraps.

2. Make decorative accents by using those scraps with your favorite punch.

3. You can make photo corners, mosaic tiles, and collages for serendipity squares.

4. You can also use those scraps to mat letters.

The possibilities are endless so don't throw away those scraps. You could be tossing away a beautiful layout idea.

TIP 3

Inexpensive Storage and Organization Containers

Use empty egg cartons to store small embellishments such as, buttons, beads, brads, rhinestone, eyelets, chipboard letters, etc.

TIP 4

Homemade Pop Dots

You can make you own pop dots by purchasing sheets of craft foam that have adhesive on one side. Run the sheet of craft foam through your Xyron. This will allow you to create an entire sheet of pop dots for pennies. You can cut your dots to any size you need.

TIP 5

Making your Cricut Mat Sticky Again

To make your mat sticky again, use a 2 way glue called ZIG with a thick chisel tip. Paint the whole mat with it, let it dry for 5 minutes, and your cricut mat will stick like you just bought it.
